HISTORY

When Lian and her sisters were born, their mother died. One year later, their aunt followed suit, and when they were six their grandmother died as well. This left them to be raised by their father, Symeon, the ruling lord of House Veirnan. This also meant that, for half of their lives, there have been few women influences on their life, especially women of their own rank. Mostly, all they have been exposed to has been their father's tales and what memories they do have of the late Lady Fiona. These memories were quite strong for Lian's sisters, especially Lissandra, but Lian herself had always found the woman to be fairly terrifying and generally did not take them to heart as a model for her own behaviour

In general, Lian herself took after her father more. Where they were vocal about their demands, she was quite and gentle. This strategy worked quite well in getting her what she wanted and so she continued with it. It also claimed for her the coveted spot of favourite child, a fact that Lian was fully aware of. She does however usually avoid too much resentment from her sisters, due to the fact that she usually does not exploit this fact and her nature makes them prone to dote on her a bit too. She very rarely fights with anyone, especially not those in her family, making her a very easy person to care about.

Lian's great love in this world is the piano. She started playing by herself when she was quite young, banging on an old piano that was a relic from her mother's short time in Veirnan. Eventually she was discovered and a tutor was arranged for her. She is somewhat of a prodigy in this aspect and often spends many hours a day learning new pieces and writing some of her own. She never held too much interest in her other lessons and tries to get out of them as often as she can, in order to get back to her music. She also enjoys the connection to her mother, a woman she has always wished she could know more about.

PERSONALITY

Lian is often regarded as a very quiet child (when she is not playing the piano), however she actually does say a good deal, but does so softly. Her gentleness makes her seem passive and yielding but more often than not she does get her way. Some might see this as being manipulative, but that is not her intention. She simply knows what she wants and is aware of which way works best for her to get them.

Lian is a caring girl, especially when it comes to her cousin Myca, whom she often will "play nurse" for. She does not like to see others in pain or trouble and does what she can to be a balm against such things. She does accept that some things are beyond her control, but if she can help just a little bit she will, even at times when it puts herself at risk or gets in the way of her daily life (including her piano, though only in extreme cases).

Lian loves all her family but she has a special adoration for her father. He is the person she always calls first when performing a new piece for the first time and his praise is the thing she craves most. She also tries her best to comfort him when he is upset, since she recognizes that he is only human, a fact that she especially sees when he becomes intimidated by his own daughter, Lian's older sister Lissandra.

APPEARANCE

Lian has long, lilac hair that she usually ties back with ribbons. She is tall for her age and has pale skin that refuses to tan, only burn. She has large red eyes and is well known for a small, shy smile. She speaks very softly, forcing people to have to listen closely in order to catch each word. She usually wears very simple clothing, usually in pastel shades. Lian dislikes wearing the same clothing as her sisters, since she doesn't like being mistaken for them unless she is intentionally trying to be confusing, which doesn't happen often.
